Derek Pepper

Derek is the Team Leader for Shine’s Recovery Services in Region 3, which encompasses counties Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Cavan, Monaghan, Meath, Louth and North County Dublin. Derek has been with the organisation since 2007, originally fulfilling the role of Regional Development Officer for the North East region, before assuming the role of Team Leader in 2020. During this time, Derek has also worked extensively with the Mental Health Commission. Previous to this, Derek worked for 6 years with the National Learning Network Supported Employment Service, working predominantly with people with self-experience of mental ill health.  

Within the Region 3 Team, Derek’s team endeavour to fulfil Shine’s remit of providing best in class recovery support services to the people in our region. This involves the delivery of one to one support via phone, email, text and in person, as well as providing support groups and education courses across the region. They work collaboratively with partners in the voluntary and statutory sectors on various projects and initiatives to ensure Shine are at the forefront of Recovery based activities in the community.  

Away from work, Derek enjoys regular trips to the cinema and has a reputation as a collector of football memorabilia over many years."
