Vacancy: Phrenz support group facilitator Kildare

Shine is seeking a Facilitator to work on a contract for services basis with our Kildare Town Phrenz  Group for 1.5 hours per week, every Thursday afternoon, from 1.45pm to 3.15pm, with immediate effect. An hourly rate of €23 plus acceptable mileage will be paid subject to receipt of relevant invoices. Applicants can be a person with self-experience or have relevant experience working in the area of mental health.

Shine Phrenz groups are self-help and social groups for people with mental ill health which provide a safe space for people to come together to socialise and discuss relevant issues in a mutually supportive environment. They create an opportunity to explore the recovery journey, increase support and forge alliances with other people and groups with similar experience.

The Phrenz Facilitator plays an important role in the running and development of the Phrenz groups. The facilitator is there to ensure a productive group process and to ensure the group works as a constructive and cohesive unit. The responsibilities of a Phrenz facilitator may vary depending on the nature and activities of the Phrenz group but the skills and values required in facilitation remain the same regardless of the nature of the group.

The facilitator’s responsibility is:

  • To lead, guide and support the Phrenz group
  • To ensure that the respective facilities are open on time and that refreshments are available (where appropriate)
  • Provide support to the development of the Phrenz groups and members of the groups e.g. encouraging member’s participation in events, training etc.
  • Report regularly to the Information and Support Officer in connection with accounting for any monies expended through the groups
  • Provide monthly reports to and ongoing liaison with the Information and Support Officer
  • Attend facilitator meetings
  • Act as a representative of Shine and adhere to the relevant policies
