Vacancy: Community Mental Health Peer Support Worker Cork

We are actively seeking individuals with lived experience to apply for the Mental Health Peer Support Worker post. Applicants must be able to demonstrate their commitment to recovery and the ability to manage their mental health wellness.

REPORTING TO

Co-ordinator of Centre and Team Leader of Resource and Counselling Services

CONDITIONS

Hours: 21 hours/3 days per week, permanent contract

Salary: €13,912.20 (based on 21 hours per week)

Base: Shine Cork Centre, 14a Washington Street, Cork City

PURPOSE

  • To promoting the aims and objectives of Shine.
  • Through their work and personal experience; promote, model and share their journey of recovery and discovery
  • To work with individuals with lived experience of mental ill health 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work as part of the Shine Cork Centre team
  • Use their expertise and experience to inspire hope and recovery in others who are undergoing similar mental health experiences
  • Under the direction of Coordinator or Mental Health Worker
    • Engage in peer to peer group work
    • Support and encourage individuals to achieve their goals and to self-advocate
  • Undertake any such duties as requested by Shine

Please note, successful applicants cannot access any of Shine’s support services and cannot be members of Shine. Shine supports all employees in their specific posts through the Line Management structure and Shine has an Employee Assistance Scheme in place.
